Tanju Babacan presented his first collection in 1990 and in 1991 he won the Turkish Clothing Manufacturer Association’s male designer award. Babacan has always had an active interest in social responsibility projects and in March 2012 he presented a runway show to raise awareness on violence against women.He also plays an important role in a social project called “Women who Create”.
Last but not least; he runs a company called BUDDYPA which works with Buy One Give One business model. With this brand he and his team provide socks and other garments for children in the rural regions of Turkey. Tanju’s designs have been featured in TV productions and worn by countless Turkish pop stars and musicians. In 2017 he was awarded the prestigious Best Costume Award for theatre play ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’.
He established the RED BEARD brand in 2013 and in 2015 two outfits from one of those collections were on show at Palazzo Morando the Costume Moda Immagine Museum in Milano as part of JEWELS OF TASTE Exhibitition.
