MIFUR Exhibition was established in 1996 out of the need of AIP – the Italian Fur Association – to organize in Italy, specifically in the city of Milan, an exhibition that would represent the fur and leather clothing sector within the fashion system.
To manage the Exhibition, the Mifur Trade Fair Organisation was established as a non-profit company, with the statutory objective of promoting and organising trade fairs targeted at Italian and international operators, in support of this sector.
For 20 years, MIFUR attracted Exhibitors, Buyers and fashion Press from all over the world, under the direction of a President with renewable mandate (Norberto Albertalli) and a 7-member board of directors, through its organisational secretariat based in Milan.
Willing to operate as part of a system, it is a member of the Italian industrial confederation Fiamp (since 2018 renamed Confindustria Moda, after the union between Fiamp and SMI, Sistema Moda Italia), joined by the Italian associations Assocalzaturifici (footwear manufacturers), Assopellettieri (leather goods manufacturers), Anfao (optical goods manufacturers), Unic (tanners) and Federorafi (goldsmiths, silversmiths, and jewellers manufacturers).
On an international level, thanks to an ongoing, productive collaboration with ITA (Italian Trade Agency), every year it organises incoming activities for foreign buyers as well as several missions, the most relevant of which in the USA, Canada, Russia, Japan, Korea and France.
With the involvement of national and international Organizations, in each edition Mifur offers events of wide appeal, such as fashion events (some co-organised with Vogue Italia), fashion shows that see the participation of the most important Italian fashion designers, competitions for young designers in collaboration with CNA Federmoda (Italian fashion federation) in Italy and IFF (International Fur Federation) on a global level,…
Meanwhile, Mifur felt the growing desire to expand its product categories (fur and leather clothing) to textile clothing, knitwear and accessories, to better meet the needs of boutiques, department stores and concept stores that boast high-quality collections thanks to their raw materials, craftmanship and fashion content.
This is why in 2016, with the aim of creating a new exhibition, it decided to combine its expertise with that of its long-term partner Fiera Milano, the organiser of MIPAP – Milano Pret-à-Porter, the evolution of the first Milanese fashion exhibition Milanovendemoda, where established and emerging Brands of women’s ready-to-wear, with a strong Made-in-Italy component, have been exhibitors since 1980.
This is how TheOneMilano was established, its first edition organised by Mifur in February 2017 at Fiera Milano. TheOneMilano is a new Exhibition where know-how and exhibitors from the MIPAP and MIFUR fairs converge, in a single novel project of international appeal on high-end fashion.
In 2018, Mifur changed its legal form from Ente Fieristico (Trade Fair Organisation) to Mifur srl.
Mifur srl is currently managed by a 7-member BOD, with Norberto Albertalli as Chairman of the Board of Directors. After more than 20 years, it still has the same innovative drive and a capacity for dialogue in the Italian and international fashion system.
Mifur’s goal is to create value in the international fashion industry, promoting a responsible consumption focussed on quality products and fostering innovation and creativity.
For this reason, it creates B2B and B2C opportunities for outstanding companies in the Italian and international manufacturing sector, acting as a point of reference for Buyers during the purchase of distinctive collections for their stores around the world.
TheOneMilano, the international fashion exhibition organised by Mifur, wants to be an unmissable meeting opportunity for the finest high-quality fashion manufacturers, also small and emerging ones, and specialized stores, trendsetters, concept stores, boutiques and department stores from all over the world. TheOneMilano is the B2B rendezvous for Italian and international collections that can speak the language of fashion on a global level.
MIFUR has always been an innovator, contributing to the evolution of the fashion industry and often anticipating market and societal trends. It never stops focussing on the future, also by engaging small businesses and young designers in the pursuit of quality, by enhancing traditional expertise and combining it with new visions and technologies.
Besides organising the physical exhibition and related events, MIFUR, with its exhibition TheOneMilano, has a lively presence on social media (Facebook and Instagram) where it also collaborates with young fashion influencers.
What’s more, since 2017 it has been developing the digital trade show AlwaysOn Show, to allow exhibitors and visitors to extend the experience offered by TheOneMilano beyond the timescale and space of the physical Exhibition.
A trailblazer of the evolution of exhibitions both in the real-life world and on the digital scene, Mifur never loses track of its mission and always looks ahead to the future.
